As you may know, Milton Keynes has been heralded the UK’s newest and most dynamic city due to its growing population of more than 227,800 people and 10,000 businesses. It also to continues to grow.
And at the heart of this is Milton Keynes Theatre - a theatre and entertainment centre of excellence in the region, managed currently by the Ambassador Theatre Group, itself the second largest theatre group in the UK.
Opening on 4 October 1999, after a 25 year campaign to get a new theatre bulit, the 1400 seat auditorium, with its fully retracting ceiling that provides a more intimate viewing experience, makes every visit memorable. And not forgetting the shows themselves. They offer a wide and varied programme of first class dance, drama, musicals, opera, comedy and children's shows – perfect for all ages to enjoy.
Also, along with West End and world-class productions, there are many exciting ways for you to get involved. This could be through the Creative Learning department, who offer many show-based workshops and classes for all ages, including an incredibly successful Youth Theatre. Community productions are also popular with local groups having the opportunity to perform on the main stage.
If you're interested in more than just what happens on stage you can book a backstage tour where you can learn more about the building and see behind the scenes of a working theatre.
