Hoo Hill Maze is set in privately owned grounds within a small, secluded orchard.
The Maze itself measures 30 metres square, and 2 metres high, with a large square centre piece.
It is located on top of the hill on the southern end of Shefford almost opposite the Wren Park Nursing and Residential Home
It was designed and planted in the summer of 1983 by the owner, John Brindle, using 1000 Leylandii. There is an extension to one side planted about 1993, slightly less labyrinthine, but successfully continuing the Shefford Maze theme.
The pathways are gravelled making them readily accessible even in wet weather. In all, it creates a challenging and enjoyable time for all the family.
The Maze has been closed to the public since September 2009, during which time John has been working hard to create an additional garden area , providing a beautiful, peaceful and reflective space to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Hoo Hill Maze is a unique venue for your special function. The Maze itself is a central focus for fun and games, the surrounding orchard is beautiful at all times of the year, from the first early snowdrop carpet, through the golden waves of daffodils, the fruit blossom, the summer flowers, the autumn fruit - even the crisp atmospheric winter contrasts .
There are various picnic areas within the orchard and a large open space to one side of the orchard, where you can site your Marquee(s) or large gazeebo. This area is now landscaped by the newly opened Garden, perfect for gentle reflection, relaxation and easy socialising.
The cost to hire varies depending on the size of the function, numbers, length of time etc....
